Salivary Gland Disorders

The salivary glands make saliva and empty it into the mouth through openings called ducts. Problems with salivary glands can cause the glands to become irritated and swollen, causing symptoms such as bad taste in the mouth, difficulty opening the mouth, dry mouth, and pain or swelling of the face or neck. Causes of salivary gland problems include infections, obstruction or cancer.
