The fundamental mission of our Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology fellowship program is to develop trainees into superior clinicians who will become leaders in the field of Cardiac Anesthesiology. Owing to the small size of the fellowship and the commitment of our faculty, our fellows receive mentorship and guidance from day one, tailored to our fellow’s unique career goals. The fellowship in Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology at Tufts Medical Center offers unparalleled clinical training and a multitude of opportunities for research. We are accredited through the ACGME to train three fellows per cycle. In addition to the one year Cardiac Anesthesiology fellowship, we now offer a two-year Cardiac Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. Applicants interested in both fellowships should contact Dr. John Fox as well as Dr. Eric Ursprung.
In addition to intraoperative teaching, fellows participate in the following conferences and lectures.
All candidates for the fellowship must have satisfactorily completed an accredited residency program in anesthesiology and be eligible for and obtain a Massachusetts medical license.
Application for a fellowship position should contain a letter of intent/personal statement, Curriculum vitae and three letters of recommendation from the current residency program.
All Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship Applications should be submitted through the online fellowship matching service, SF Match. Please contact our Education Manager, Nichole Formicola, at nformicola@tuftsmedicalcenter.org, if you have any questions.
After applications are reviewed, certain applicants will be selected and invited for a formal interview. The finalists will be selected after a unanimous decision of the cardiac anesthesia group in consultation with the department chair.
