Standing with You Against Pancreatic Cancer
At the Pancreatic Cancer Program at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, we understand how difficult it is to receive a diagnosis of pancreatic tumors. You may be anxious about your prognosis and confused by your treatment options — or you may be worried about how your cancer will affect loved ones.
That's why our experts offer more than clinical care. We also offer compassionate support for both patients and families dealing with pancreatic cancer.
The Latest Treatments for Pancreatic Cancer
Our program provides leading-edge treatment for all tumors of the pancreas.
Our clinical care is so effective because we take a collaborative approach to developing your treatment plan. Each week, our team gets together to make sure our patients have access to the latest treatments and the most promising clinical trials.
We use a combination of therapies to treat pancreatic tumors. Your care plan will be tailored to your cancer type as well as your health history and lifestyle. Common treatment options include:
- Surgery to remove part or all of the pancreas using the least invasive method available
- Chemotherapy to slow the growth of a pancreatic tumor or stop new tumors from developing
- Radiation therapy to shrink large pancreatic tumors or prevent new tumors in a particular area of the body
Our patients also have access to novel therapies through participation in Tufts MC and national clinical trials.
How Will My Cancer Affect My Family?
When a family member has pancreatic cancer, it can be hard on everybody. The Pancreatic Cancer Program offers a wide array of support services to help you and your family during this difficult time.
While undergoing treatments, patients and families can stay together in the Neely House, conveniently located within Tufts MC. The Neely House is more than just a place to sleep. There, families have the opportunity to be together in a homey, comfortable environment and to connect with other families who also are coping with cancer.
A Multidisciplinary Team on Your Side
Our program includes surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, gastroenterologists, nutritionists and other experts from across Tufts MC.
In the Pancreatic Cancer Center, we value the relationship that referring physicians have with their patients. So we make it a point to communicate with you throughout your patient's treatment regimen.
