Q: What is a navigator? – A patient navigator is the first step for patients who have questions about their healthcare but aren't sure who to ask. Our navigators can help guide you through the hospital system, address concerns and connect you with resources in the medical center and the community.
Q: What does a patient navigator do? Our patient navigators meet with you and your family to discuss any challenges you may be facing. They can help you with transportation, applying for financial assistance or working with your insurance company. Navigators may also attend appointments with you, advocate for your needs and connect you with social workers who can support you and your family.
Q: How do I reach a navigator? It's easy! If you would like to schedule time to talk to a patient navigator, just call your nurse or oncologist. You will be matched with the appropriate navigator and will be able to contact them directly.
Q: What languages do your patient navigators speak? We offer services to patients of all languages. Our trained navigators are fluent in multiple languages, including but not limited to, English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Toishanese.
Q: What type of training do navigators receive? Our navigators are experts at making sure each patient is set up with the right team to have all their questions answered. Patient navigators are also trained to address cultural and language barriers, as well as socio-economic challenges.
Q: Is there a cost associated with patient navigators? Patient navigators are free to our patients and family members.
