Dealing with a heart problem is stressful, especially if you don’t know yet what is wrong. Patients who come to get tested at Tufts MC’s CardioVascular Imaging Center in downtown Boson, with the most advanced cardiovascular imaging technology available, will find a warm, welcoming and collaborative atmosphere, from the receptionist at the front desk to our technicians, nurses, and expert physicians. You won’t be left waiting for answers, or, for that matter, for an appointment.
Our specialists read the results the same day and provide prompt results to your physician to discuss with you. We also make every effort to accommodate your schedule, especially if you have to travel some distance to see us.
For decades, our center has been on the leading edge of advanced medical technology to quickly, efficiently and accurately diagnose heart conditions.
The CardioVascular Imaging Center is nationally known for its innovative approaches to cardiac diagnoses. We are a leader in the use of 3-D echocardiography, which provides a detailed evaluation of complex heart conditions, and provides a roadmap of the heart for all cardiovascular procedures. The Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art software for fully quantitative analysis to support image interpretation, and has served as a core laboratory for several multicenter research trials. The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program utilizes advanced imaging techniques to provide detailed evaluation of the structure and function of the heart muscle, while the Cardiac Computerized Tomographic (CT) program provides a noninvasive evaluation of the coronary arteries as well as the heart.

The Cardiovascular Imaging & Hemodynamic Laboratory at Tufts Medical Center's CardioVascular Imaging Center is nationally known for its innovative approaches to cardiac diagnoses, providing major advances into the echocardiographic and Doppler assessment of myocardial, valvular, congenital, and ischemic heart disease. Our laboratory has a long tradition of commitment to teaching in cardiac ultrasound. Our medical faculty are involved with educational seminars throughout the world.
The lab provides expeditious scheduling for all state-of-the art services, including transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography. The Lab has led the way in providing a unique array of advanced services, including three-dimensional cardiac imaging for advanced evaluation of cardiac function, valvular, and congenital heart disease; stress echocardiography for evaluation of ischemia, valvular disease, and cardiac hemodynamics; and myocardial contrast imaging for evaluation of ischemic heart disease and cardiac function.
In addition to diagnostic services, cardiac ultrasound imaging is also employed in guiding various interventional and surgical procedures, such as alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), atrial septal defect (ASD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) device closure, transcatheter valve replacement, and surgical valve replacement. The laboratory has pioneered the development of many innovative ultrasound techniques and their clinical applications.
