Athletes tend to show heart changes differently than non-athletes. The Tufts MC Sports Cardiology for Athletes Clinic provides screening for heart diseases and creates treatment plans for competitive and recreational athletes of all ages (high school to master). Our physicians will work with you to distinguish “athlete’s heart” from other heart diseases. After comprehensive evaluation, our team will develop a treatment plan that focuses on the unique needs of each athlete to ensure healthy and safe participation in sports.
Our team provides screenings for athletes that are experiencing:
- chest discomfort,
- fainting/syncope,
- palpitations/abnormal heart beats,
- abnormal shortness of breath/exercise intolerance,
- residual effects from COVID-19
These symptoms are not always a result of a heart condition like, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, valve disease or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Whether you are found to have one of these conditions or not, we will work with you to manage your symptoms and create a treatment plan to help you continue an active lifestyle.
