Tufts Medical Center held the grand re-opening of our new state-of-the-art Cath Lab Room 3--licensed as a Hybrid Operating Room--in late May 2018. Our Interventionalists and Surgeons will perform some of our most advanced therapeutic procedures here, including trans-catheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and MitraClip, among other advanced acute mechanical circulatory support procedures.

This makes Tufts MC the only facility in Boston to have a fully-functional operating room geographically located within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory This ground-breaking facility allows us to perform cutting-edge techniques that combine surgical and interventional procedures all in the same location, keeping us the forefront of patient care.

HCM physicians opening the new HCM CenterHypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center

The HCM Center at Tufts Medical Center is a national center of excellence for the management and evaluation of patients and families with this inherited heart disease. Over the last 15 years, the Center has become internationally recognized and--along with our outreach initiative with the Chanin T. Mast HCM Center in Morristown, NJ--delivers world-class expertise and care to a large and continually growing number of patients with this genetic disease.  The Division of Cardiology opened the doors to its new HCM Center space on the third floor of our South Building in May 2018. This new clinic space expands our HCM services (originally on the sixth floor) to service existing and new patients. It consists of two patient exam rooms, a nurse's station, a dedicated waiting room for patients and administrative offices. It also features a dedicated Family Consult Room which allows our HCM specialists to meet and discuss care plans with patients and families in a comfortable non-exam-room setting. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held April 25, 2018.
