At the Center for Memory Disorders and Conditions for Older Adults, physicians work with Tufts Medical Center geriatric specialists to identify and treat patients at the earliest stages of Alzheimer's Disease.
Our CardioVascular Center (CVC) uses a multidisciplinary approach to provide treatments for a variety of heart problems affecting older adults.
The CVC delivers specialized services in women’s heart health, vascular medicine, preventive cardiology and heart disease management, treatment of rhythm disturbances, interventional cardiology, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, treatment of valve disease, management of advanced heart failure, cardiac transplants, treatment of congenital heart disease and cardiovascular imaging.
The Neurology Department at Tufts Medical Center provides specialized services to older adults for epilepsy and stroke recovery.
As part of our “Healthy Aging” collaborative with the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, we will help older adults with undernutrition due to a variety of causes, such as medications, stroke, and dementia and guide a formal plan of nutritional care.
Because older adults are at higher risk for vision problems and eye disease, we often connect our patients with ophthalmologists in the New England Eye Center at Tufts Medical Center. We recommend that our patients complete an eye exam every year so that we can detect any issues early and reduce the risk of vision loss.
Tufts Medical Center anesthesiologists are very familiar with treating pain across all age groups. We provide older adults with prescription pain medication according to their pain levels and body functions. We make sure that we work slowly and gently to provide our older adult patients with the right treatments. We encourage all of our patients to feel free to ask questions and let us know when you feel any pain.
We provide our older adult patients with specialized rehabilitation services for a number of health issues including stroke, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain and aging related symptoms.
We provide a wide range of Urologic services for older adults including stone management, reconstructive urology, management of incontinence and voiding dysfunction, cancer services and minimally invasive surgery.
The Division of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of problems relating to the female bladed and pelvic organs including overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, fistula repair, pelvic floor issues and fecal incontinence.
