The Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical Center is home to some of the top infectious diseases researchers in the country. Our investigators maintain highly productive and well-funded basic science, translational, clinical, and outcomes as well as global health research programs investigating bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic pathogens and diseases. They conduct research locally, nationally and across the globe; working to gain a better understanding of infectious diseases and find improvements in patient care.
Our divisional research budget is in excess of $4 million dollars per year, with exceptionally strong funding of both basic and clinical research projects. We offer robust research training programs that include mentoring, structured training and preparation for successful grant applications to federal and private funding agencies, which enable trainees to launch independent academic research careers. We also participate in clinical trials across the medical center.
