Business of Medicine and Professional Development Curriculum

We feel that there is a lack of formal education in the business side of medicine during Internal Medicine training, which is not reflective of physicians’ educational priorities. A Medscape survey of 1680 trainees found that 87% of residents/fellows feel unprepared in business aspects of medicine, and 85% wished they had taken courses that might have helped bridge this gap. 

In conjunction with our GME office and Physician Organization (PO) leadership, we have implemented a curriculum that combines business of medicine lectures with personal development workshops, as described below.
