Center for Glomerular Disease

The Center for Glomerular Disease at the Tufts Medical Center William B. Schwartz Division of Nephrology is located in downtown Boston. We are experts in glomerular kidney disease detection, treatment and research. Many glomerular diseases involve not only the kidney but other body systems, so we offer care through a multi-disciplinary clinic designed to include all relevant medical specialists. We use the most up-to-date knowledge about your disease combined with individualized decision-making to take the best care of you.

There are three main types of glomerular disease, glomerulonephritis(or nephrotic syndrome), nephrotic syndrome and those with genetic causes. The most common diagnoses for each type are:

Glomerulonephritis (or nephritic syndrome):

Nephrotic syndromes:

  • Membranous nephropathy,
  • Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS),
  • Minimal change disease,
  • Amyloidosis-related kidney disease
