Movement Disorders Program

Focusing on Parkinson's disease & other movement disorders

Promising new therapies have recently emerged for many movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease. At the Movement Disorders Program at Tufts Medical Center, we strive to keep up to date on the latest treatment options — and to use them effectively for our patients' benefit.

Our multidisciplinary team specializes in caring for patients with movement disorders such as:

  • Parkinson's disease
  • Dystonia, including essential tremor dystonias (particularly cervical dystonia, which involves contraction of the neck muscles)
  • Gait disorders
  • Huntington's disease

We work together to ensure you receive a swift, accurate diagnosis and the treatment you need to optimize your quality of life.

What's the patient experience like?

Many patients come to our clinic on the recommendation of their primary care physician or local neurologist. We try to schedule the initial appointment promptly, often within a week.

During your first visit here, our Director, Dr. Ho will conduct a thorough neurological examination, will review medical records and may perform tests to get a full picture of your health. Further testing at a later date may also be necessary.

Dr. Ho's extensive experience in managing movement disorders gives him an edge in making even the most difficult of diagnoses. Following a diagnosis, our program offers a wide range of treatment options, including botulinum toxin injections for dystonia, limb spasticity and other conditions. You may also have the opportunity to take part in clinical trials of new therapies being studied.

At the Movement Disorders Program, we understand your concerns about your health. We're ready to help, offering expert, compassionate neurological care — all in an intimate environment where you'll always feel right at home.
