Neurosurgery Medical Student Clerkship

Interested students are invited to complete a clerkship on the neurosurgical service at Tufts Medical Center.

About this program

During this rotation, students will gain a broad exposure to the field of neurosurgery. Students will perform inpatient consultations, evaluate patients in the emergency room, see patients in the outpatient clinic, round on the inpatient service and scrub in for surgical cases. Medical students will also participate in our education conferences, including journal club, neuroanatomy, neurosurgery case presentation and neurosurgery/neuroradiology case conference. Students will have the opportunity to give a 15-minute presentation on a neurosurgical topic at the conclusion of their rotation.

Dr. Riesenburger, Director of Neurosurgery Medical Student Education at Tufts Medical Center, is happy to answer questions about the medical student clerkship and can be reached at 617.636.8484. If you would like to do a visiting sub-internship on our neurosurgery service, please notify Kiara Matier at kiara.matier@tuftsmedicine.org. She will help you initiate the application process with Tufts University School of Medicine.
