Tufts Medical Center in downtown Boston offers a number of physiatry services including EMG/NCS testing. EMG stands for electromyogram, which measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. NCS stands for nerve conduction studies, which measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals.
EMG/NCS is a diagnostic test that assists clinicians with diagnosing muscle and nerve conditions including cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, myopathy, peripheral neuropathy and peripheral nerve entrapment conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.
