Body Sculpting Program

Tufts Medical Center plastic surgeons perform body sculpting procedures to both help patients look and feel better by removing loose skin and fat, thus lifting, tightening and contouring saggy areas of the body.

Our surgeons perform a number of body sculpting procedures, including:

Body contouring – this procedure is often used after bariatric surgery and massive weight loss to remove excess skin that hangs loosely over the slimmer body. Body contouring can include surgical procedures like a breast lift, liposuction, arm lift, thigh lift, buttocks lift and/or face lift.

Liposuction – one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries. Our surgeons will sculpt and shape your body by removing undesirable fat deposits from areas around the face, neck, back, abdomen, upper arms, thighs, waist and/or buttocks. Liposuction should not be used as a substitute for exercise and diet but can eliminate stubborn fat deposits that are unresponsive to typical weight loss methods.

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) – this procedure helps to flatten and shape your abdomen and waist by removing excess skin and fat, while tightening your muscles. This technique is typically intended for people with excess skin, a rounded stomach after pregnancy or a combination of excess skin and fat.

Body lift (belt lipectomy) – your surgeon will make a continuous incision around your belt line to remove excess skin and fat. During the procedure the abdomen (tummy tuck), thighs and buttocks are recontoured together.

Arm lift (brachioplasty) – removes loose and flabby skin in the upper arms along with any underlying fat.

Thigh lift (thighplasty) – removes excess skin and fat to tighten the area around your inner thighs. Our surgeons typically make the incision in your groin area so that the scar will be concealed.
