Colon and Rectal Surgery Research

The members of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery have a wide number of research interests including complications of ostomies, inflammatory bowel disease, pathogenesis of colorectal and anal cancer and treatment of early rectal cancer.

Current research projects include:
  1. The role of myofibroblasts in colitis-associated cancer.
  2. Development of a novel in vivo mouse model to study stromal-epithelial cell interactions.
  3. The role of PKD signaling on COX-2 in myofibroblasts.
  4. The use of platelet angiogenesis regulator proteins to predict colorectal cancer stage.
