Pediatric Surgery Research

Support from the Kiwanis Foundation of New England has allowed us to maintain the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute, a part of the division of Pediatric Surgery, since 1981.  Through the Institute, innovative research of trauma-related diseases, such as closed-head injury and tissue engineering is being conducted.

 Current research projects include:

  1. Acute metabolic response to injury in critically ill infants and children
  2. Intensive care nutritional resuscitation in critically ill infants and children
  3. Pediatric Trauma Imaging and Triage Strategies
  4. Effect of acute injury insult on long-term neurodevelopmental outcome in critically ill infants.
