Our Surgical Residency program works with 2 local community hospitals so that our trainees can experience a localized healthcare approach and a diverse case load.
Rotations at Melrose Wakefield Hospital
As a staple of the communities just north of Boston, Melrose Wakefield Hospital provides the residents ample opportunities to learn in a high volume community hospital. This rotation provides residents with many vascular and general surgery cases in addition to providing a higher level of autonomy and decision making. During their intern year, and again in their 3rd year, residents learn efficiency and teamwork within a multi-disciplinary model.
Rotations at Winchester Hospital
Winchester Hospital is a 226 bed suburban community hospital with busy general and vascular services and a strong dedication to resident education. A large group of NEQCA physicians (Tufts Medical Center’s referring physician network) are employed at Winchester Hospital. Our General Surgery Residents rotate here during the PGY-1 and 4 years, gaining extensive case volume during these months.
