We understand that a receiving a diagnosis or preparing for surgery can be stressful. That’s why we provide many of our cancer patients with access to our nurse navigator, who helps guide you and your family during your time in our care.
From the very first visit on, the nurse navigator is your point of contact who helps schedule appointments, manage symptoms and coordinate care with your other doctors’ offices. She helps your Tufts Medical Center physicians during clinic visits and chemo infusions and streamlines the care that you receive from specialists throughout the hospital.
On the day of your surgery, the nurse navigator will be there to answer any questions and help calm any fears that you may have. She also will keep in touch with your family during the surgery by providing updates on the progress in the operating room. After surgery, the she will check in on you to see how you’re doing and help with any post-op family support that may be needed.
During your recovery time at home, the nurse navigator will check in with you to see how you are healing. She will also provide continued symptom management and family support.
We offer cancer patients the help of our nurse navigator because we are truly committed to ensuring that your time in our care is easy and seamless. Although our number one goal is to get you the best health outcome possible, we also want you to have a positive experience.
