Volunteers at Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children in Boston visit inpatients daily helping with non-medical support services. For example, our volunteers bring complimentary newspapers, magazines, books, puzzles, playing cards and games to patients and their families.

The role of the Tufts Medical Center Volunteer is to help provide a positive hospital experience for patients and their families. They serve in a number of capacities including:
We are looking for long term volunteers that have the time to give and the desire to give back.
- Visiting with patients and their families
- Providing administrative support
- Assisting in the Emergency Room
- Providing wayfinding assistance through our ambassador program
- Escorting patients
- Assisting with discharges

At Tufts MC and Floating Hospital for Children, we match volunteers with opportunities that best suit their skills and interests with the needs of the various departments we serve.
We ask that our volunteers commit to at least one shift per week and a minimum of at least 6-12 months of service. Most of our volunteer assignments are for the mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday. We do have a limited number of evening and weekend opportunities.
High school and College programs
Due to an overwhelming response, we are not accepting any further applications for High School or College volunteer positions either online or in person.
