Pseudomyxoma Peritonei

Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a rare cancer in which the tumor cells that have spread around a patient's abdominal cavity produce mucous. As the mucous that these cells produce builds up over time and collects in the abdomen, the mucous forms a jelly-like substance called mucin. Experts at Tufts Medical Center in downtown Boston, MA treat PMP using state-of-the-art techniques including Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC).
