Helping women get the heart care they deserve

The signs of heart disease can be different in women and men – differences that can lead to misdiagnosis. The Women’s Heart Clinic at Tufts Medical Center is a leader in efforts to bring the best possible care to women who either have or at are risk for cardiovascular disease. We provide consultations to primary care physicians and to cardiologists, with a focus on preventing, diagnosing, and managing heart disease in women.

Our team

Our team of specialists includes world-class researchers in areas like cholesterol and blood pressure abnormalities in women and hormone replacement therapy. They are also compassionate physicians, who take the time to listen and tailor treatments to the individual patient’s needs.

Particular areas of expertise include:

  • Cardiovascular risk assessment and prevention, including management of lipid disorders, hypertension, and other cardiovascular risk factors.
  • Cardiovascular imaging/diagnostic testing for evaluation of women's heart health.
  • Management of heart disease in women, including coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy/heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Cardiovascular care during pregnancy.

Working collaboratively with women and their doctors

Therapeutic decisions are made in conjunction with the patient and the community-based physician.

We believe strongly in patient education and provide educational materials to empower the patient to be actively involved in diagnostic, therapeutic, and life-style decisions.

We combine experience, knowledge, and compassion to provide each patient with choices that will work best for her.
