The Radiation Oncology team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston consists of board-certified radiation oncologists, nurses, dosimetrists (who calculate radiation doses), medical physicists, a dietitian, a clinical social worker and support staff. We work together closely to meet all your needs during your time in our care.
If you have cancer, your radiation oncologist will review your case with Tufts MC surgeons, medical oncologists and other specialists. This multidisciplinary approach helps us determine the most effective treatment plan for your particular health challenge.
As a sign of our commitment to staying on the cutting edge of radiation oncology, we continually invest in innovative technologies. For example, we host northern New England's only Gamma Knife unit, which lets us perform "brain surgery without the knife" using extremely accurate beams of radiation. Other specialized procedures include intensive modulation radiation therapy and brachytherapy — two technologies we helped to pioneer — along with stereotactic body radiation therapy and image-guided radiation therapy.
