Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology at Tufts Medical Center uses advanced imaging technology to detect and treat a variety of conditions in our downtown Boston location.
Tools including X-ray, ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT) scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) help our team to diagnose the precise nature of your disease or injury. They also provide guidance that allows us to treat nonsurgically many conditions that once required surgery. The procedures we perform often involve less pain, fewer complications and a faster recovery time compared to open surgery.
Your primary care physician or specialist may refer you to Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology for diagnosis and/or treatment of conditions such as:
After making a diagnosis, we will work with you and your doctor to figure out which treatment option is right for you. In some cases, it will be appropriate for you to undergo treatment in Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology. Our interventional radiologists routinely perform procedures including:
Our division includes board-certified radiologists with subspecialty expertise in cardiovascular and interventional radiology, specially trained nurses, technologists and physician assistants. The entire team takes pride in working together so that every patient receives the best care possible.
Our commitment to collaboration extends throughout the Radiology Department and to other areas of Tufts MC as well. As part of the CardioVascular Center, we regularly consult with Tufts MC heart and vascular specialists on making diagnoses and determining treatment plans. We often call on our colleagues in other fields — e.g. oncology, gynecology, urology, and kidney and liver diseases — for this same purpose.
At Tufts MC, our coordinated-care approach helps ensure you receive highly specialized care from some of the world's top medical experts.
If your doctor has referred you to Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology, the first person you will likely speak with is our physician assistant, Leasha Burrow. She will tell you what to bring on your first visit, including all relevant medical records, and answer any questions you may have.
We respect your time and strive to make your experience here as efficient and pleasant as possible. Leasha really helps in this regard, processing your paperwork, making sure you receive test results in a timely manner and scheduling follow-up appointments as needed. She's a big reason why our patients commonly praise our level of service.
