If you're struggling with hearing loss, you want to know what's wrong — and how to make it better. At the Tufts Medical Center Adult Diagnostic Audiology Service in Boston, we can help with your hearing and communication challenges.
Our licensed audiologists are skilled in conducting a variety of diagnostic tests to get to the bottom of your hearing problem. We determine the degree and type of hearing loss, and discuss the results with you and your physician. When necessary, we can refer you to our colleagues in the Tufts MC Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) Department for additional medical management.
The information we provide can also assist in recommending hearing aids or other assistive listening devices, and helping you improve communication skills.
At your first visit with our service, your audiologist will review your medical history and examine your ears to confirm they're clear for testing. Next, you'll undergo a comprehensive hearing evaluation, which includes tests such as:
Our audiologists work with Tufts MC otolaryngologists and serve many patients with complex hearing problems. This vast experience gives us an edge over audiology programs that typically deal with less complicated cases.
As a patient here, you can also count on the personal, compassionate form of care that is the Tufts MC trademark. We maintain a relaxed and intimate environment where you'll always feel comfortable — and never feel like a number.
