Department of Surgery

General Surgery Residency

Dr. Jason Hall, Surgeon-in-Chief

I'm excited to serve as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. We have a thriving general surgical residency program which is internationally recognized for providing exceptional clinical and scientific training in a welcoming atmosphere.

Our program offers a broad clinical education including surgical critical care, advanced laparoscopic/robotic surgery, as well as thoracic, colorectal, breast, endocrine, and plastic surgery in addition to solid organ transplantation.

Our residents enjoy weekly protected time didactics. This also includes time for simulation training in a new, state-of-the-art training facility. Our board passage rates exceed 90%.  We have a flexible approach to research and encourage residents to follow their passion in terms of their further career development in this discipline. Because we are located in Boston, this allows for a variety of clinical and basic science opportunities for our residents to take advantage of.

Our residents routinely match into some of the most competitive post-residency positions or fellowships including pediatrics, plastics, and minimally invasive surgery.

We are excited to welcome you to our institution and we know that once you visit, you will find it a remarkable place to train.
