Our Surgical Residency program works with 2 local community hospitals so that our trainees can experience a localized healthcare approach and a diverse case load.
Melrose-Wakefield Hospital
As a staple of the communities just north of Boston, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital provides the residents ample opportunities to learn in a high volume community hospital. This rotation provides residents with many vascular and general surgery cases in addition to providing a higher level of autonomy and decision making. During their PGY-1, PGY-3, and PGY-4 years residents learn efficiency and teamwork within a multi-disciplinary model.
Boston Children’s Hospital
To provide the pediatric clinical and operative experience to our trainees at the PGY3 level, a total of 2 months is spent with the Pediatric Surgery department at Boston Children’s Hospital. This agreement has proven to be a busy and robust rotation for our trainees.
