Tufts Medical Center updated Visitor Policy

- Visitors are screened upon entry for symptoms of illness.
- Visitors who exhibit symptoms of illness may be asked to delay their visit.
- All visitors should be deferred until the visitor is well.
- Practice hand hygiene often
Adult
Adult Inpatient
- General visiting hours are between 11 am and 8 pm daily.
- There are no restrictions to the number of visitors per day.
- Other hours can be considered at the discretion of the health care team.
- End of Life and other extenuating circumstances are at the discretion of the care team
ADULT PROCEDURAL AREAS
- Patients are allowed at least 1 individual or companion to accompany the patient to an in-person appointment
ADULT AMBULATORY AREAS
- One support person per patient per visit only. No children under 18.
- Bedside visitors limited to 1 at a time (Example: Infusion Center).
Mothers and Babies
Ambulatory Areas (Prenatal clinic and ultrasound unit)
- Visitors are discouraged at this time due to our high risk population. If you feel you need support, you may bring one adult visitor for your appointment. No children under 18 are allowed.
Labor and Delivery (LDR)
Every patient admitted to Tufts Medical Center for delivery of a baby is allowed:
- 2 adult (over 18) support persons and a doula who will be given wristbands and allowed 24/7 access to the patient while on LDR. These designated support people are not considered visitors.
- No visitors. Visitors are not allowed on LDR.
Maternal Special Care Unit (MSCU) and Mother Infant Unit (MIU)
Every patient admitted to Tufts Medical Center’s Maternal Special Care Unit may have:
- 2 adult support persons per day per patient who will be given a wristband and allowed 24/7 access to the patient.
- 2 visitors per patient at a time.
- Siblings are welcome. Non-sibling children may not visit at this time.
- Visiting hours on the Mother Infant Unit are 2 pm-8 pm.
NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (NICU)
- Parents/ banded Labor Support people are not considered visitors.
- Maximum of 2 at the baby’s bedside.
Pediatric Inpatient Floating 7, PBMT and Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)
- Two parents/guardians/designated caregivers for children are not considered visitors and have 24/7 access.
- Any visitor during normal visiting hours must have parental approval.
Pediatric Provider Visits
- Two parents/guardians/support persons may accompany a pediatric patient to an in-person provider visit.
Emergency Department
- Pediatric ED: two parents/guardians may accompany a pediatric patient to the Emergency Department.
- Adults: One visitor allowed per patient at the discretion of the care team.
