Dr. Deeb Salem has had a distinguished career as an academic cardiologist. He served as the Chief of Cardiology at Tufts Medical Center (then New England Medical Center) from 1987 to 1995. He was appointed as the Physician-in-Chief of Tufts Medical Center in 1999. He served in the position until 2021, when he was named SVP of Academic Integration for Tufts Medicine.

Dr. Salem was the founding President of the New England Affiliate of the American Heart Association. His academic accomplishments include over 170 scientific publications. He is a recognized national expert in coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and congestive heart failure. Dr. Salem has repeatedly been listed in Boston Magazine as one of "Boston's Best" physicians.
