James A. Kraus, DMD was born and raised in New England. He attended Saint Michael’s College in Vermont where he obtained a BS degree in Biology graduating Cum Laude and played Division II soccer all four years serving as team captain his Junior and Senior year.

He started his professional training at Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 2002 obtaining his DMD degree Cum Laude in 2006. He then pursued speciality training as a resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery that included a strong focus in anesthesia and general surgery at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.

After completion of his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2010, he began a Pediatric and Adult Maxillofacial Surgery Fellowship in the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery in Melbourne, Australia. Through his sub-speciality training at the Royal Children’s and Royal Melbourne Hospital, he gained immense experience in the planning and execution of complex orthognathics, cosmetic and functional septo-rhinoplasties and Level I cranio-maxillofacial trauma. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery and Pediatric and Adult Maxillofacial Trauma in 2011.

He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Trauma Society and is certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS. He holds hospital appointments at North Shore Medical Center, North Shore Children’s Hospital in Salem, MA and Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Kraus practices a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interest in
cranio-maxillofacial trauma, orthognathics, facial reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, planning and treatment of complex pediatric facial deformities, bone grafting and dento-alveolar surgery.
