As National Nurses Week comes to a close and we usher in National Hospital Week, please join us in honoring all those who have worked so hard to protect our community in this challenging year.

During these days of the pandemic, hospitals, physician offices and healthcare facilities continue to safely treat patients with non-COVID-19 emergencies and time-sensitive medical needs, especially those with acute and chronic conditions.

Jessica Cheung, PT, DPT, supervisor for inpatient rehabilitation services was named 2020 Employee of the Year by MelroseWakefield Healthcare at the company’s annual celebration on March 28, 2021.

Every spring for the last 20 years, thousands of people from across the Merrimack Valley have taken to the streets of downtown Lowell for TeamWalk for CancerCare, raising millions of dollars over that span to support cancer patients in need.

In response to the state’s request to provide additional patient capacity in the region, Lowell General Hospital is working with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and UMass Lowell to recreate an Alternative Care Site at UMass Lowell’s Campus Recreation Center.

Lowell General Hospital leadership, in close coordination with local and state officials, has determined that the additional space created at the alternative care site at UMass Lowell’s Campus Recreation Center will no longer be required at this time.
