Health services leader Optum has named Lowell General Hospital’s Center for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery a Resource Services Center of Excellence (COE) for providing cost-effective, quality health care to patients receiving bariatric surgery and other related services that address the long-term health risks associated with morbid obesity.

Andras Sandor, MD, FACS, FASMBS, a highly-regarded local general and bariatric surgeon, has joined Tufts Medical Center Community Care and will exclusively perform surgery at MelroseWakefield Hospital and Tufts Medical Center.

Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine announced today that Jason Hall, MD, a colon and rectal surgeon and an internationally renowned expert in diverticular disease, has been named Surgeon-in-Chief and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Tufts Medical Center, and Professor of Surgery and Benjamin Andrews Chair of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tarnoff will become the new Surgeon-in-Chief at Tufts Medical Center in June.
