COVID-19 Vaccine Info

Tufts Medical Center is proud to offer the community a COVID-19 vaccine, in partnership with the City of Boston, according to the current State of Massachusetts and CDC regulations. We welcome walk-ins at our locations anytime from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday- Friday.

For your visit, please bring:

  • Identification card (if able)
  • CDC COVID-19 vaccine card if seeking a booster or third dose
  • Health Insurance information (if able)

Tufts Medical Center’s COVID-19 Testing, Vaccine & Booster Clinic
Location: 276 Tremont St., Boston, MA
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Testing Only.
Please note that due to high volume, we may not be able to accommodate all those in line at the end of day.

  • All three FDA authorized vaccines are available at no cost to you: Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen.
  • In general, Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are preferred over the Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.
  • COVID-19 vaccines primary series (for those who are not immunocompromised) are recommended for everyone age 5 and older
    • Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine:
      • 5 to 11 years of age should receive a first dose, followed by a second dose 3 weeks from 1st dose
      • 12 to 64 years of age should receive a first dose, followed by a second dose within 3-8 weeks from 1st dose (data shows that an 8-week interval is associated with increased safety and effectiveness in this population)
      • 65 and older should receive a first dose, followed by a second dose 3 weeks from 1st dose
    • Moderna COVD 19 Vaccine:
      • 18 to 64 years of age should receive a first dose, followed by a second dose within 4-8 weeks from 1st dose (data shows that an 8-week interval is associated with increased safety and effectiveness in this population)
      • 65 and older should receive a first dose followed, by a second dose 4 weeks from 1st dose
    • Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen COVID 19 Vaccine - a single dose for ages 18 and up.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Dose is recommended for everyone age 12 and older
    • At 5 months from their primary series for mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna)
    • At 2 months from initial Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen single dose (Pfizer or Moderna preferred as booster)
  • For individuals who are immunocompromised (i.e.: have a weak immune system due to a medication or condition) the following is recommended:
    • mRNA COVID 19 vaccine primary series recipients
      • A total of 4 doses recommended
      • Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine: age 5 and up
        • First dose followed by a second dose in 21 days and a third dose in 28 days from third dose
        • A booster dose 3 months from third dose
      • Moderna COVID 19 Vaccine: age 18 and up
        • First dose followed by a second dose in 28 days and a third dose in 28 days from third dose
        • A booster dose 3 months from third dose
    • Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen vaccine (age 18 and up) initial dose recipients
      • A total of 3 doses recommended
      • An additional dose with a mRNA COVID 19 vaccine (ie: Pfizer or Moderna) at 4 weeks from last COVID 19 vaccine dose
      • A Booster Dose at least 2 months from last COVID-19 vaccine dose

 

Guidance continues to change with new information. If you have received all recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccine, even if not according to the newest guidelines, you are considered up-to-date on your vaccination and do not need to do anything else at this time.

  • Accessibility: The vaccination sites are wheelchair accessible and staff are available to assist with wheelchair access. We have wheelchairs onsite for use.
  • Public Transportation: Our vaccination location is accessible by the MBTA Orange Line, “Tufts Medical Center” stop and the Green Line, “Boylston St” stop. Additionally, by bus 11 or the Silver Line to “Washington St at Tufts Med Ctr” stop and bus 43 to “285 Tremont Street” stop. For more options please visit mbta.com.
  • Interpreter Services: For non-English speaking community members, we will have interpreter services present to help answer any questions.
