MCRI Training + Education

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute (MCRI) at Tufts Medical Center focuses on educating medical and scientific researchers, including:

  • Pre-doctoral, graduate and post-graduate education training are high priorities of the Molecular Cardiology Research Institute, with numerous trainees, including students from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University and post-doctoral fellows from all over the world, conducting their research in MCRI labs annually.
  • The Institute sponsors a Molecular Medicine Seminar Series throughout the academic year with guest speakers participating (see below).
  • All MCRI investigators, trainees and technical staff participate in an annual retreat in Woods Hole, with presentations by nationally and internationally recognized distinguished guest lecturers, and opportunities for all MCRI members to review their latest research as well as discuss new opportunities for collaboration.
Fellowship opportunities

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine is actively recruiting highly qualified MD and PhD scientists in the training phase of their careers.

The major goal of this program is to train postdoctoral MD and PhD fellows in either (a) basic research involving cellular and molecular investigation in the cardiovascular system, or (b) translational cardiovascular research, through the application of current molecular and cellular principles to important clinical questions in cardiovascular medicine.

The Program is especially focused on five areas of basic and translational cardiovascular science:

  • Vascular Biology
  • Electrophysiology
  • Cardiomyocyte biology and heart failure
  • Signal transduction pathways in the cardiovascular system
  • Translational cardiovascular genomics and genetics

For all inquiries and any questions about this fellowship opportunity, please contact the CVTG Program administrator via email:  mcri@tuftsmedicalcenter.org

Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Interested applicants should send a current CV and personal research statement to mcri@tuftsmedicalcenter.org

Molecular medicine seminar series

The MCRI hosts the Molecular Medicine Seminar Series throughout the academic year. This hour-long seminar is held every other week on Tuesdays in the Stearns Auditorium. Speakers in the Molecular Medicine Seminar Series come from within the MCRI and Tufts Medical Center, the greater Tufts University community and other local, national and global institutions. Speakers are chosen to highlight the research that is being performed in the MCRI, to help foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and to expose members of the Health Sciences Campus to some of the most interesting and prominent research being done outside of this institution.
