Accredited by The Joint Commission for quality + safety

All of our hospitals have earned The Joint Commission accreditation, which sets healthcare quality and safety standards in the US and evaluates healthcare programs to ensure that those standards are met. Accreditation is a symbol of quality that is earned by meeting these standards, and hospitals are surveyed every 3 years to maintain it.

Magnet® recognition for nursing excellence

Tufts Medical Center and Lowell General Hospital have been awarded Magnet® recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which is the highest national honor for healthcare organizations that excel in nursing. Fewer than 10% of healthcare organizations in the U.S. have received this prestigious recognition.

To qualify both hospitals had to meet strict standards for nursing excellence and demonstrate their superiority in the 5 essential components of delivering superior patient care: transformational leadership; structural empowerment; exemplary professional practice; new knowledge, innovations, and improvements; and empirical outcomes.
